While studying International Relations at UC Davis, my interest led me toward education.  Soon after I attended Stanford University and received a master’s degree and a single subject teaching credential. Having four children precipitated my interest in early childhood, and as a parent and preschool director for 10 years, my interest in early childhood grew.

I have been teaching at the SRJC since 2014 and my philosophy in early childhood education was greatly impacted by the Napa Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship. My passion for human development lies in the context of the growing child in relationships. One cannot completely understand development or identity by solely observing the child. But when a child in the context of their family, community, and culture are considered and respected, the fullness of their development is more deeply understood.
